If you look to the top of the right column of this blog you will see a before and after transformation that I went through several years back, and you’ll note that in addition to the fat loss, there is a distinct gain in the muscle volume on my frame. Now personally for me, steroids are absolutely not the way to go. They defeat the entire purpose of good health, and use of steroids runs counter to the entire concept that good nutrition, supplementation, and a little persistence are the best ingredients for a lean muscular and healthy body.
The best supplement that can aid in your own transformation is simply the food you choose to ingest- dark green veggies, read vegetables, lean fish, etc. But there is a lot of research on creatine monohydrate that suggests that it can help your body actually be more efficient in the muscle building process. Our bodies manufacture creatine, and you can also find it in large quantities in lean red meat. But having a big rare steak all the time doesn’t really work well when you are aiming for a nice lean physique.
Now in my transformation (it was actually a contest I entered — and finished 2nd in the nation in my age group) I did take a creatine supplement. I noticed the I felt much more energetic in the gym, and my recovery times shortened. I’m guessing in the days of old when cavemen were running through the hills chasing their wild game for dinner — that they ingested their meal while at the same time benefiting from the effective high does of creatine that was in the meat.
That’s what I love about the natural approach to exercise, fitness, and bodybuilding. The good foods that are already here on this planet, and the supplements derived from those foods — are more than enough for the muscle-building synthesis to take place. So in answer to the question, “does creatine work?”, I’d have to say that for me it certainly did and does. But don’t forget that you have to go on your own personal route of discovery. I’ve never met anyone that eats the same or takes the same supplements, or exercises the same for that matter. What does matter however, is that you take control of your life, take control of your eating, take control of your exercise routine and in the end you will absolutely muscle up and lean down!
